A view of the semester that was ... 2nd sem

datte :
It has been a long time since we posted anything here ....
Well I was reminded of this as my hols came to an end and the highway to hell came within view.
Since we will be staining a fresh page with ink when we get back, I thought that I should sum up the semester that was. Some of the major events in this semester have been scrapped as I am not privileged to share personal information of some people ;)
Lets get started with the semester then
Pre-mid-sem 1:
It started with people banging my head to celebrate (yeah those meanies!). So I had to get a tetanus injection. Lord knows how it went and I want no comments on that ok? Clear hai Yeti??. (datte_in_hospital = 1).
This was the time when we were getting used to Camel's "pograms". He truly tried to fk us with his work load. God knows why, but he was trying to set our ass on fire, with his "assignments given in class", tutorials and OSP stuff. So basically he was trying to make life hell for the CS people. Since baa had not yet discovered his true powers of postponing assignments yet, life was miserable. Skin on the other hand was so jobless that he was eternally begging us to go out and watch some movie etc. This earned him the title of "vella".
Then came along the mini projects. Krust and monkey in one team. Hah to that! It was more like Krust in the team and monkey was the entertainment head. He made up for all the movies Krust could not watch, all the series he had to miss. Hats off!
Almost forgot, we met our junior batch around this time. Well there was Krust's Bengali dude who turned out to be a jerk, Rabbi's friend who turned out to be such a !@!#$%!$@#$!@ that he has become a prime target for the mess portal's failures. Thats what beta testing is for ...!
Our concept of tutorials had become
1. tests cz of OS and DB. We met the ever panting tutors here. I was so scared to ask doubts. Supposing the tutor forgot to breathe while answering?? Well that is PR for you :).
2. scientific stupidity at its worst cz of Science
3. "I have no idea what?!" cz of Algo
4. "Aren't we glad!!!!" cz we did not have them for Humanities
This was also the time when I actually asked doubts in NavJ's class. I spent my time between smsing, sleeping, asking doubts and basically everything. But I am glad later on I concentrated, believe me I did, on one thing only - sleeping.
Oh and I cannot miss the "fun" lectures Hari gave us. I am glad he did not start by defining fun and how we have fun etc. He should have given them off!
The canteen got ice-cream and Rabbi since then was high throughout the semester.
Freshers was organized. But it wasn't as much fun as the meeting later on to discuss improvements. I was so reminded of the Indian Parliament sessions where similar "improvements" are discussed by "calm" people in a "sophisticated" manner. Well even I lost my cool here and people had to make me sober.

Coming to the sad part. Yeti broke his tooth and well he was in pain (yeti_in_hospital = 1). But the sadder part is, that he got to eat Cerelac which was made so well that he told me he would not regret breaking another tooth to get to eat it again. Well that proves my culinary skills. Yeti got his tooth fixed. (yeti_in_hospital ++ ).

Apotheosys ,as stated on their website, was started by the couple we all know about (Rabbi no point in hiding your BV now....) and they roped in a few people. It was great fun and marks this time for me. Great job Rabbi! See thats the couple power :)

Mid-sem-1
No idea what happened.

Pre-mid-sem-2
We went to Nagarjun Sagar and the trip was awesome. I think I enjoyed the journey more but it was fun. Yeti finally showed his true mastery over liking and being able to eat anything. (the dude loves Threptin! for those who don't know it's a pathetic thing no human in his right mind and body should eat).
Baa had realised his true powers now. So to show to the world what a CR can do, he along with his trusted fan club (:P) organized a spectacular Carnival. Now our seniors may not want to acknowledge it because of their personal reasons, but believe me it was almost as good as (if not better, well this has to be seen) Felicity '10 (ta da da ... music is life or something is the theme).
Yeti took over the finance and managed to swing in a few bucks for his "drinks" fund. Well I'd rather not say much here, cz Baa might just make me getting my degree tougher through his "direct**" contacts. But jokes aside, I appreciate the effort put in by these guys. Take a bow people :)
Had the finance council not been so stingy, I am sure the event would have been waayyy better and so would the quality of drinks Yeti bought. Ok, I think I am more sure about the latter part.

Practice for the October Flakes was in full swing. We were just missing a few beats (Rabbi geddit??). I was shit scared before it. Partly cz I would have an "awesome" audience who would know just this word (and I was right!!) and partly cz I had not been able to have Appy, orange juice or even ice-cream for that week. Torture and stress really make you crazy. This event went off decently apart from the "Gods of Rock" not liking it, I think everyone had a nice time cracking jokes and doing their stuff and ... yeah, listening to the music.

Ever since the flakes Monkey's playlist has consisted of all the songs played there plus (ARGGHHHHH) Love Story by Taylor Swift. Why dude? WHY??? And I am sure, he will soon get Krust's hands on his neck if he continues that.
Monkey got his eye cut and it bled. I am exaggerating. It was a minor paper cut given by (as Monkey says) me, (as I KNOW FOR A FACT) "ahem-ahem" (wink!). So Yeti took him to the hospital and got his eyes back. (yeti_in_hospital ++ ; monkey_in_hospital = 1).
Me and Yeti got the SSAD project and were literally "mess"ed up. Krust and Monkey (well need I say anything?? It was wonderful team work :) )

"Ping" was made by resurrecting Echoes for the 5th time (?) , dunno I lost count. But it was a fun experience. Well as Yeti said, the name may not be great but its better than "It!". Agony Aunt was amazing. I think in future even I will contribute to the column. It must be so stress relieving to actually kick people's ass publicly and officially!

It was this time which made SSAD as "So SAD". Humanities was decent. I slept so it was wonderful actually. OS and DB were back to normal. Camel was "pobably" too caught up with watching movies recommended by IMDB to screw us. Science was a torture. It was. Thermodynamics was irritating and highly stupid. Maths... I barely attended but the most amazing thing was the "Laurent" series.
Yeti had to get a root canal. While Monkey tells me that he could have had the job done in less visits, Yeti caught a fancy for the doctor's assistant.
(yeti_in_hospital += 5)

Oh yeah, before I forget. Skin was as jobless as ever. He caught up with me and Rabbi in naruto.

Mid-sem-2
No idea what happened in the exams, they were a haze and .... One significant thing did happen here, details maybe later.

Pre-end-sem
Now the woman who talks crap, took crap to a different level and made SSAD "So fkin SAD". OMG! I would prefer a Humanities course to this one. The deliverables were endless and designed to disgrace the brain by repetitively asking the same , the same, the same thing!!!
The project was eating most of our time and was making us demented. Sleep, eat (not applicable to Yeti), attend classes(not applicable to Yeti and Rabbi),attend Maths class(applicable only to Monkey), code (not applicable to Monkey) was our routine.
Yeti broke his tooth and now he needed to get it fixed. Thats what comes out of too much ice-cream.
Krust in one of his basketball injuries twisted his ankle. So Yeti took him to the hospital and got him a new leg. (krust_in_hospital = 1;yeti_in_hospital ++)
Well what followed was a series of visits to Yuckies to fetch Krust's food. He had a royal time. Though there was a side effect. He had become a bit weird cz of staying in the room all day.

End-sem
Seriously No idea. Dont want to recall.

Post-end-sem
Well then came the project demos. And came CMU. And me and Rabbi had the great CMU escape. Skin and I had the full circle trip which was the thing which marked the end of the semester for me. Full circle really.
And now its back to home. The place where I left my heart and I am only too glad to have come back to see it.

Well reflecting back on the semester, it taught me many things
1. Never take a course for which the TA is RS. He can't do anything.
2. Get over sad marks. Life has more to it. And who said marks reflect your effort or knowledge? With people like RS, they reflect "god-also-does-not-know-what".
3. Never walk behind Krust. It may result in toe-nail injury.
4. NEVER EVER EVER EVER take Software Engineering under KG.
5. Dont upset Baa.
6. Treating your juniors isn't always a pleasant experience.
7. Dont eat ice-cream with a mended tooth.
8. Never bring bottles of liquor into the hostel by snicking them in your pants. How to bring them? Ask Yeti.
9. Boo! to all the hookah places. We have an awesome dude here who made hookah out of a used milk bottle. Engineers rule!
10. Keep Rs 5/- coins for soup. This is hell important.

Well signing off for now. Need to get out of the house and roam around the city. "Capture a bit of heaven in my mind to get me through the tough times ahead".

  2. hey all, krust over here. well i would say that it was a great post after a really long time. I would like to keep it sweet and simple as I currently doing a project with monkey, and he has been helping us a lot. He's not exactly the the picture a portrayed. He some times become crazy. But he has worked extremely hard for the current project and its time we need to reconsider this taboo that we have put on him.
